Don’t you just hate it when you read those posts that say “hey, I have some fantastic news about my work, but I can’t really say anything about it yet”?  It’s as if the person writing about it is a little kid entrusted with a secret that he is determined to keep, yet is bursting at the seams with the desire to tell someone.  I mean, how childish can a person be, right?

Well, guess what?  I got some really cool news this weekend about my upcoming novel (Half Past Midnight), but I’ve been sworn to secrecy until everything comes to fruition.  Gaaaahhhh!!!!!!  :Censored:

 Oh well.

So what else is going on?  Well, I just activated a new “smiley” plugin.  :Who-s-the-man:  It seems pretty cool, but I’m afraid it may prove to be too much of a good thing.  I don’t want the smileys to cause undue delays in loading the pages into your browser.  Let me know what you think, would you?

In other news, the cover for HPM seems to be coming along nicely.  Initially, I was getting all twisted up in trying to get the perfect cover to represent not just my book, but the precise story that I am telling with my book.  It finally came to me that I don’t have to have a custom picture to represent something specific from the story.  Instead, what I want is a cover that represents some aspects of the story, and also conveys the genre, while at the same time attracts the eye of the potential reader/buyer.  The cover Johnny is doing for me does all that.  I’m not an expert, by any means.  All I can tell is what I like – and the cover he’s putting together is something I like.

You will also note that I have a new progress meter in the right-hand column of the blog.  Streets of Payne is officially back in progress.  It is being completely reworked, as I will be transforming it from a series of novellas into a series of full length novels.  I’m pretty sure it will at least be a trilogy, but only time will tell for sure.  I’ve decided to go further back in time than I did in the original version, to flesh out some things that were only hinted at in the novella.  For one thing, I plan to show more of the back story of how Amber Payne became the hard-nosed person she was in the novellas.  For another, this will also give me the chance to flesh out some characters that I had previously been forced to consign to minor league status.   Now, they’ll get to play ball with the big kids. :Approve:

That’s it for now.  Until next time, keep writing, and keep safe. :Bye:
