Not a lot going on right now, so this will be a short post. (It occurred to me as soon as I typed that, that it might be fun to just end the post with that single sentence, but I think it might upset a few people.  8-) )

MBH passed her re-certification test after much hand-wringing and ulcer inducing worry. She was the only one truly worried about it though, (yes my love, I know you read this – but you’re much smarter than you give yourself credit for :inlove: ).  She’s on another road trip for work just now, and I think the miles are wearing on her.

WW32For my part, I’m still writing. Year 12 is quickly approaching 100k words, and looks to me as if it will probably go a bit beyond that. The big problem is that I still don’t know how it ends.

No, that’s not really true.  I know how it ends.  What I don’t know is what the final climax that leads to that ending will be.  Without that climactic conflict, the end simply fizzles, and I don’t want that.  Part of the craft is making sure that your story has a satisfactory ending.  And a satisfactory ending depends on proper pacing all the way to the end.  Right now, Y12 doesn’t have proper pacing as I approach the final chapters, and I have to find a way to fix that.

So I’m conflicted.  On the one hand, tickled to be getting close to ending the book.  On the other, frustrated with the quality of my story.  Until I figure out those pacing issues, I’m just not going to be satisfied.

So I’m outta here.  Back to work.  There are words to write and massage and … stuff.  Another week, maybe two, and the first draft should be done.  After that, I’ll be soliciting Beta readers.

Wish me luck, and stay safe everyone.   :bye:
